Biodiversity of Some Economically Significant Stored Grain Pests in Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir

The stored grain pests infest grains and other pantry items to fulfill their food shelter requirements leading both qualitative quantitative losses. Due favorable climatic conditions of Jammu, these insects register presence throughout the year. These destroy contaminate kitchen commodities with fecal matter undesirable odors make them unpalatable, thus, posing a grave health hazard. this reason, post-harvest loss in India accounts for about 10% total 9.5% pulses. were collected randomly from places like super markets, grocery shops, ration depots, godowns, warehouses, etc. preserved fumigated collection boxes using standard entomological procedures. From study area, 16 under two orders namely Coleoptera (81.25%) Lepidoptera (18.75%) recorded on Pantry within human dwellings Jammu 2017-2018. Of these, 9 have been first time district, all which belong order Coleoptera. This is ever documentation insect associated district. However, pilot study, represents miniscule fraction diversity homes, requires detailed full scale investigations intended be taken further studies among group insects.
